Rabia Ghoor
Founder - swiitchbeauty

When she was just 14, Rabia Ghoor established swiitchbeauty in her 4sqm bedroom with an iPhone 5, R6 000 and an internet connection. Armed with an instagram page, 2 products and the will to bring trendy, affordable beauty products to South Africa, swiitchbeauty grew beyond anybody’s wildest dreams, even Rabia’s, who had to quit high school to successfully run her beauty brand.

An advocate for self-teaching, Rabia often credits the internet and how accessible it has made information as an important part of the success of swiitchbeauty. She also realised the importance of including the customer throughout the whole process. Her vision was to introduce a brand that spoke to and not at consumers, and offered affordable products that the South African consumer felt proud to purchase and use.

Over 7 years, 30 products, 100 000 followers and a 2021 Forbes Woman Africa Young Achiever Award later, Rabia Ghoor (22) and swiitchbeauty are household names in the South African beauty industry.

Toni Carroll
Founder and CEO at My Beauty Luv

in 2014 Toni Carroll  started one of the very first online professional haircare stores in South Africa. The store 'Hair Today Hair Tomorrow' was started with the aim of providing quality, professional-grade products to the growing online shopping community.

After a few years of bringing salon-quality brands to the public, the astute businesswoman recognised a gap in the market: The need for a holistic approach to hair health. With this in mind, she began introducing ingestible health products to her platform. “At the time, hardly anyone else was doing this. I also didn’t want to sell just any products, they had to be made from only the finest grade ingredients,” says Carroll.

Founded in 2018, nutricosmetic brand My Beauty Luv was born out of a need for a professional-grade beauty supplement that targets the most sought-after areas of wellness: Anti-ageing, longevity and vitality. My Beauty Luv formulates unique, market-driven and related beauty and wellness supplements made with only the finest grade, raw materials. Key ingredients are sourced from reputable, industry leaders with claims backed by clinical trials and consumer proven results. All formulas are free from binders, fillers, preservatives, colourants, artificial flavours, chemicals and anything that's not real. Additionally, My Beauty Luv partners with the world’s leading international scientific institutes producing cutting-edge technology in the fields of beauty, health and wellness.

Phoebe Williams
Founder - Hey Gorgeous

Defined by its beautiful branding and a sustainable approach to skincare, this homegrown brand is rapidly becoming a leader in natural, ethical beauty.

Hey Gorgeous owner and cosmetic scientist, Phoebe Williams, says that British businesswoman Anita Roddick’s use of natural ingredients in her famous Body Shop products inspired the range. “As I aged I was inspired to utilise products derived from conscious, sustainable ingredients and, as I then watched my daughters grow up, I also knew I wanted them to be able to use beauty products made with the highest quality organic and natural ingredients that are completely beneficial for the skin,” she explains.

The company offers natural skincare for all ages, at an affordable price which makes it the perfect product for self-care, a little self-indulgence and feel-good retail therapy. “Skincare shouldn’t cost the earth. We’ve always wanted to be accessible to as many people as possible. That’s the premise of the brand, its pricing and the advice we freely give our customers."
